When you should not replace Basecamp
Switching has a real cost: migration, retraining, and the weeks where nobody can find anything. If the reasons below still apply to you, staying is the cheaper decision.
- Flat-rate pricing on the Pro plan is genuinely different: past roughly 20 people it is far cheaper than per-seat tools.
- Opinionated and calm by design — message boards, to-dos, docs and chat, and deliberately little else.
- Very low training cost. Nothing needs configuring before you start.
The most expensive mistake here is replacing one tool you use fully with another you will use partly. If you genuinely use most of what Basecamp does, price alone is a weak reason to move.
