Moz Local alternatives: listings, reviews and the cost per location

Choose a replacement for local listings and Google Business Profile work. A general SEO research suite will not automatically cover those jobs.

Shortlist BrightLocal Manage for combined local delivery, Whitespark for a specific module or cleanup job, and Semrush Local Pro for a Semrush-based workflow. Check directory coverage and account control before comparing the invoice.

BrightLocal: compare Manage with listings, Grow with reviews

BrightLocal is a useful shortlist when the weekly job combines local visibility tracking, listings and reporting. Its Track plan is a monitoring choice; the vendor states that Active Sync is included in Manage and Grow. Citation Builder is a separate pay-as-you-go service. Do not buy Track expecting it to replace an ongoing listings subscription.

The checked one-location Manage quote is US$54/month on monthly billing or US$485 billed annually. BrightLocal sells location bands: Manage for six to ten locations is US$109/month monthly or US$980 annually for that band. Grow is the option to inspect when review workflows are also required. Whitespark: buy the specific module or service

Whitespark’s US$1/month/location Local Platform is for Google Business Profile administration. It should not be presented as a US$1 replacement for every Moz Local feature. Rank tracking, reputation tools and listing services are separately offered.

The checked Listings Service has one-time packages from US$20 to US$999; the scope determines which work is included. This can fit a finite cleanup job when you retain the publisher accounts and someone owns future corrections. If you need continuous distribution, verify that separately. Semrush Local: the SEO subscription is a separate decision

Semrush Local can be purchased alongside an existing subscription or as a standalone option. Its current documentation separates Local Base from Local Pro. Listing Management is a Pro feature; do not assume that buying the general SEO toolkit or the cheapest Local plan includes it.

Shortlist Local Pro if the team already works in Semrush and wants location details, reviews and GBP work in that environment. Price each location, the supported directories and any required reports. Source: Semrush Local plans and boundaries.

BrightLocal Manage, annual location bandsUS$485US$683 (2–5 band)US$980 (6–10 band)

These are original arithmetic examples using the checked annual invoices. They are not feature-equivalent packages and exclude tax, optional add-ons and one-off cleanup. Moz Local Lite monitors reviews; review responding is on higher plans. BrightLocal’s network and service scope also differ. A ten-location price advantage does not imply the same answer for one location.

Moz Local’s checked monthly Lite quote is US$20/location, versus US$199 paid for a year. The website displays a rounded US$16 monthly figure for annual billing; budget the actual US$199 invoice. Source: Moz Local pricing.

A directory-coverage check before any price comparison

  1. List the country and the directories that matter for each location.
  2. Record the live publisher URL, current business data and the account owner.
  3. Confirm which corrections the new plan can send and which need manual work.
  4. Check duplicates, special opening hours, service areas and categories on a representative location.
  5. Ask what remains connected or managed when the old contract ends.

A higher directory count is not automatically a better fit. Ten supported publishers that match the business can be more useful than a long list in the wrong country. Keep a dated record of the actual publisher pages so you can verify changes after the handover.

Switch one location before a whole portfolio

Choose a location with normal opening hours, a few known listing errors and a report the owner recognizes. Keep GBP ownership under the business’s control. Record the accepted business name, address, phone and website before editing anything.

Use the template to assign an owner to every correction. After the new provider reports a successful update, inspect the public directory page and record the check date. Provider submission status is useful evidence, but it is not a guarantee that every publisher has already applied the change.

Only expand the migration once the pilot’s required corrections, permissions and report are satisfactory. Keep the old exports and check renewal timing before cancellation. Avoid changing several providers at once when you need to understand what caused a listing to change.

Include the work that a cheaper plan creates

A lower subscription can create manual directory work. For example, saving 30 a month while adding two monthly hours valued at 25 increases modeled cost by 20, before migration. Enter your own amounts in the switching savings calculator. Use location count for per-location prices; use a flat total for a location-band package.

Keep Moz Local if its distribution is working, the reporting meets the owner’s needs and the full switching cost exceeds the avoidable saving. If you actually meant keyword research and broad SEO audits, use the Moz Pro alternatives guide. Moz Local and Moz Pro solve different buying decisions.

Questions before choosing

What is the best alternative to Moz Local?

Choose by the job. BrightLocal Manage is a shortlist for combined local delivery; Whitespark offers separate GBP tools and citation services; Semrush Local Pro covers listing management in its local toolkit. Verify country coverage and the specific plan.

Is Whitespark a complete replacement at US$1 per location?

No. The Local Platform quote covers its GBP administration product. Listing services, rank tracking and reputation products are separate decisions.

Can I replace Moz Local with Moz Pro or Search Console?

Neither is a complete replacement for ongoing local directory management. Use them for their own research or first-party search-data jobs, and check local listing requirements separately.
